Burning Man 2015

27 August - 7 September 2015. Filed under category Personal.

This was my seventh year going to Burning Man, the fifth as a nomad. I have written all the general Burning Man stuff before, and I won’t write it again. For those of you unfamiliar with Burning Man, I highly recommend that you read my Burning Man Guide and the Ten Principles of Burning Man. (Click here to see all my Burning Man posts)

This post is mostly going to be a photo gallery from this year with some comments on each photo, as well as the video of course. One of the highlights from this year was to ride along in a small airplane, flying over Burning Man carrying a bunch of people who mid-flight jumped out of the plane. See the video.

My friends said it was an especially cold and dusty year. (Every year is different- but not.) What was your take?

    1. You are well informed. It was very cold, windy and dusty. Some camps literally blew away. I had thermals on burn night.

  2. Sylvia says:

Do you think you will go back again next year? Is it starting to become too much hard work?

    1. Most likely, I’ll go back, yeah. Can’t see a good reason not to! 🙂

  3. Crys Klier-Hoffman says:

Oh, MY GOD, you never disappoint. I went from smiling to grinning to laughing to tears in my eyes ( still smiling ). I don’t know what was better, your perma grin, Don and you trying to figure out how to get down off that whatever it was, the Snuff Emporium, ( I believe there were some tears in your eyes ), the view of Black Rock City from the sky, the gorgeous shot of the Temple, just too many things to pick from. I give up. I loved it all. Thank you.

    1. Ha ha, glad you like it. It is hard to convey the magic of Burning Man. I’m happy if I can get across just a bit.

Yeah, this year was a very meditative burn for me. First burn as a single person since 2011, a very fresh wound as well. Promted me to move west. I am now a member of a burner commune that works and funds large art at the Reno Generator. I miss your face, Gustav. From now on, I can be found on the Playa at Cafe Village, as I am on the tear down crew for Center Camp. Catch up soon. Much love- Ice

    1. Sorry I didn’t find you this year. I hope this burn gave you whatever you needed to treat your wound. Good luck with your new mission in the west! 🙂

  5. I’ve been thinking about going to Burning Man for a couple years now, and it looks like I’m finally gonna be able to do it in 2017. I’ll be sure to bookmark your Burning Man Guide for reference. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
